The JBLFMU Connection

The Woodland Bike Park was established in 2014 as an extension of the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University’s (JBLFMU) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in connection with its thrust on Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment (QHSE).

The park sits on a 15- hectare private property owned by the University Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, Ph.D., an avid bike enthusiast himself.

JBLFMU is one of the leading voices in Iloilo City that advocates cycling as an ecologically friendly and healthy alternative mode of transportation. It spearheads the Iloilo Bike Festival, a yearly cycling fun ride event.

JBLFMU is also the proponent (with the support of the Guimaras provincial government) of the Guimaras Bike Paradise Project, an example of bike tourism that consists of a centralized cycling route designed to showcase the scenic secrets of Guimaras Island. One of the featured attractions of the project is the Woodland Bike Park.
